The Fire Service collecting for charities

One of the great things about our local fire service is the lads enthusiastic support of fund raising for local causes. Here we see them in the Tesco (Bury) car park washing customers cars to raise over £800 for the Fire Service Benevolent Fund. This was on Saturday 12th December 1998, and champion boxer David Starie, himself a retained fireman, came along too.

Left to right: Mike Mutimer, Adrian Delaney, (an onlooker), Brian Howe, Eddie Barber, Frankie Abbott, Peter Hughes and Nick Pinkerton.

The car wash on the Elmswell Fire Station forecourt has become an annual event (picture below).
