Latest update: 28th March 2011
This page gives a list of major changes, so that you can see quickly whether I have added anything substantial since your last visit. I am of course continually adding snippets as they come in...
- March 2011: to mark the 2011 census I prepared an article for the Elmswell Newsletter, taking a walk around the village 100 years ago; and then made a new page here with this text and a lot more pictures and links; also something about the garden fêtes from 1909-12.
- January 2011: papers about the Bacon Factory in the mid-seventies, kindly loaned by Neville Freeman, Chief Executive at that time.

- May 2007: Granny Baker's diaries of 1934, 1937 and 1938; numerous photos added, including page 4 of Paul Peachey's collection, and Betty Rice's collection, as well as many bequeathed by the bacon factory when it closed.
- May 2006: Added 1841, 1851, 1861 and 1901 censuses, though there are a few omissions to be filled in. Baptisms extended, now covering 1851-73 (456 entries); catalogue material from Ipswich R.O.; several school photos; update of bacon factory and public houses pages; some more obituaries and tributes.

- June 2002: the Parish Cemetery list of names is now complete. In addition to recording (on minidisc) all the visible inscriptions and listing the people/dates/ages, I have used a 1991 document which contains a schematic of named plots, so including names whose grave markings have disappeared. The photos and the facsimiles of the 1980 plan and 1991 schematic will only be available on the CD.
- March 2002: added some preliminary work on the Parish Cemetery, though it will be quite some time before the list is completed and the photographs properly arranged.
- March 2002: added a For Schools page, trying to make it easier for small children to reach the interesting pages. This seemed the right moment for an Issue No.1 on CD, and a copy was given to Jenny Page at Elmswell Primary School.
- February 2002: added notes on pubs in the village, courtesy of Desmond Herring.
- February 2002: added Suffolk Parish Records Survey, and made the first entry in the Family History section. I have also had to remove some pictures because at present I have to keep within my allotted free space; however all the pictures are stored on the CD version of this database.
