March 23rd Societies Day of Suffolk Local History Council, at Mendlesham Community Centre
Talks from 9:55 to 12:45 on such topics as Mills, Farm Wharves, Long Melford Hall…
Exhibits from 2:00 to 4:30 by many historical societies and interest groups, including ourselves.
April 11th Second Anniversary of Elmswell Millennium History group
Angela Care Evans (British Museum) on Sutton Hoo burial and finds there.
May 4/5th Moyse Hall Local History Fayre
May 9th Timber-framed buildings
An illustrated talk by John Walker. 8pm start.
May 25/26th Woolpit Steam
June 13th Trip to Bury Record Office – (Members only)
An introductory talk, followed by a tour of the Strong Room, and then documents relevant to Elmswell will be exhibited in the Search Room. Meet in the car park next to the Record Office at 7:15 pm.
Saturday 13th JulyOuting to Sutton Hoo
There will be a guided visit to the field site, and an opportunity to look around the exhibition. Then you could have lunch if you wish (bring a picnic or eat in the restaurant).
Please book with Mo Dow as soon as possible.
We shall be going by car – if you would like a lift or car-share, please let us know; cars must depart from Elmswell at around 9am to be there soon after the site opens. When entering the car park, tell the attendant you are with Elmswell History Group and you will not have to pay anything there; proceed to the reception area, where we will meet and collect your £5 (or just £1.50 if you are a National Trust member, but you must have your membership card with you).

Speaker: Pat Merrill, who delighted us last year with her Victorian Christmas presentation. Includes seasonal punch and period mince pies. In the Church Room at 8 pm.
